PYB Alumni Scholarship

Last year around this time we hosted our very first Pack Your Bags reunion— of the 115 graduates at the time we had close to 75 people come to see one another! It was an evening full of reminiscing and recounting all the good work the Lord did in the 8 (yes, 8!) years of Pack Your Bags amidst past leaders and students alike.

Memories like leading people to Christ, memories like being baptized in the Jordan River, memories like flying on a plane for the first time, memories like seeing people healed in South Africa, memories like ministering to young girls who had been sex trafficked in The Philippines, memories like meeting best friends, and memories like sharing Jesus with people in the Himalayas who had never heard the gospel.

All of this led us to a point in the evening where we came to one conclusion— everyone should do Pack Your Bags!!! But, what is stopping them? For some we realize it is financial reasons they don’t make it to move-in day. So, as a group of people passionate about a program that brought so much life and growth in our lives we decided to sponsor a scholarship to help lessen the burden for future PYBers.

We’re happy to say we were able to raise $500 and those who contributed to the scholarship fund had the opportunity to vote on the anonymous applications and award a winner based on their financial need! The recipient of this year's PYB Alumni Association Scholarship is Ian Toy. Ian said this when asked what it meant to him when he was informed that he was the recipient—

“It means the world to me because I know that God has called me to more and without the scholarship funds I wouldn’t have been able to come do Pack Your Bags and see what God is specifically calling me to.”

It is our hope that as our alumni grows we will be able to fund more and more scholarships in the future— and who knows, maybe we’ll be funding someone’s entire year!  Join us in prayer as we look forward to our next alumni event on September 11 and believe for more scholarships to be funded!
